I understand that we are in the age of email , Skype, etc. however , I also understand that physical mail ( snail mail) is the most intimate form of communication outside of face to face conversation. And I believe that such a fact will keep” personal snail mail” in existence for a long time.

With such being said I believe that envelopes are good advertisement mediums for the utilization of scents and tastes.

Adding a distinct taste to the mouth of envelopes wouldn’t be difficult – especially since the majority of envelopes have to be licked before sealing. However, I believe a scent enhanced envelope would be the more popular and effective as strategy.

In order to effectively deploy an advertisement strategy based on scented envelopes, the envelope itself would have to be modified in order to properly release the scent upon the receivers opening of the scented envelope. Therefore, the area of the lower lip of the envelope would require a scented strip attachment, which would only break loose when a sealed envelope is torn open.

The best time to use such an advertisement medium would be during holidays – especially since holidays stimulate individuals to do more shopping, and holidays, in general, are the most memorable times of the year.

When I think about it, what’s needed isn’t a modified envelope to make the scented envelope strategy viable. The best way to make such a strategy as broad as possible is to create scented attachments for envelopes.
