There are so many ways that advertisers will be able to tap into the vast potential that smart classes will offer them. A lot of the uses will be welcomed without any sort of revolt, such as: consumer clothes, tagging, better restaurant reviews, and so forth. On the contrary, there will be a time in which the creativity of entrepreneurs, corporations, etc. will test the line of what should and shouldn’t be accepted. For instance, who owns the rights to the space that exists between the physical and virtual area in society? Or is such real estate and airspace up for grabs?

Would it be acceptable for me to create an app that utilizes the functionality of smart glasses to place virtual billboards on buildings without the owner’s permission? There are no laws that currently govern such a physical/ virual space (phyvirual space).

I can envision so many useful ways that smart glasses can be used to advertise and/ or sale products and/ or services to consumers. Yet, for some reason I’m more intrigued about the current state of lawlessness in the phyvirual space.

The physical spaces in society are protected by laws, for no one can lawfully placed an advertisement of any kind (poster, billboard or otherwise), on any building without the owner’s permission. However, it is currently lawful to take any building in the physical space through the use of the phyvirual space.

Over a decade ago I remember a time when inspiring entrepreneurs could place flier advertisements on utility poles without worry of any negative backlash. Now such an act is unlawful, and anyone caught doing such an act can be fined. Yet, I can use the phyvirual space to tag as many utility poles as I like, and there are no laws in place to dissuade me.

Even though no laws are currently in place to govern the phyvirual space, common sense should dissuade individuals from trying to interrupt other individuals in the course of driving vehicles, etc. Such phyvirual spaces should be off limits to a certain degree. However, there should be some exceptions, such as idled drivers at red lights, and so forth.

In short, it is my belief that the phyvirual space should have some sort of rules and/ or laws to govern it, because without order the phyvirual space will only take the physical space.
