Since I’m currently stuck in a present day stone age, it’s taking me a bit longer than I expected to take my first real steps towards starting an initial business venture. However, I do realize that one’s impulsive nature can never supersede God’s will…

I’m currently focused on bringing a mobile social photo app into existence, that will act as a bridge to achieving my main goal of creating a social network that gives users better functionality than what’s currently available on social networks, privacy settings which will allow users to choose what information to share and how it’s shared, and most importantly the users will never be subjected to forced advertisements.

My ambitions may seem to be a bit unrealistic when the general social network model is taken into consideration – especially since the normal business model for social networks consists of pillaging users’ personal data, in order to force specialized ads on such users. Yet, I feel tho my ideas are sufficient enough to allow users to decide what info to allow to be used in the data collection process, and what info to keep private.

As for the ad viewing opt in options that I plan to offer users, well, it is my belief that potential customers would be more open to ads of their own choosing – especially if such ads were generated in the right fashion.

My plan is to capitalize off of other companies failures to innovative where and when innovation is so desperately needed. If companies focused more on the user experience on social networks, rather than on the obvious ways to generate ad revenue, such companies would be able to provide the users the best possible user experience, while simultaneously making unimaginable sums of money.

Until I can reach such lofty heights, I’m going to have to be satisfied with taking part in creating the perfect photo app.

I’m hardly impressed by things, and maybe it’s due to me being somewhat of a critic at heart. Yet, I was shockingly impressed by Instagram’s ability to continue Facebook to pay $1 billion to acquire such a business – especially since Instagram didn’t have any meaningful revenue growth before the acquisition.

I initially thought such a move was an elaborate attempt at reverse psychology. In other words, by purchasing a popular company at a ridiculous amount of money when measured in the price paid compared to the revenue generated, Facebook was trying to convince the general public that they were overpaying for a company based on future potential. Therefore, people should be willing to pay an outrageous amount for Facebook’s stock based on future potential. Then I snapped out of it, whatever “it” was.

Regardless, I thought such a purchase was an apparent squandering of valuable capital. Then I realized Instagram’s obvious potential, if Facebook were to tweak Instagram the right way, it will become a billion dollar revenue generating machine. Hopefully Instagram doesn’t go the way of other past start ups that started as rising stars only to flame out as all falling stars do – especially the ones that are neglected by the companies that acquired them.

No matter the fate of such a pairing… I realize companies must continually evolve or risk malnutrition and/ or complete break down. Without such risks, there would be no room for valid competition, and I would be without my current aspirations.

In an article titled: “Our Data Ourselves,” inside the May 14 – May 20, 2012 issue of the Bloomberg Business Week Magazine. I read about how the social network Diaspora was currently doing. And the one thing that stood out to me the most was one of the original co – founders’ belief “(for Zhitomirskly, Diaspora was a chance to ‘Slay a Dragon’.)”

Such a statement stood out to be because of the way Diaspora was supposed to be slaying such a dragon (Facebook), from its inception, it always seemed wrong… only a lunatic would relinquish weaponry altogether, and challenge a dragon to a duel. (Note: Zhitomirskly committed suicide in Nov. 2011, God rest his soul. The lunatic comment was in reference to Diaspora as a company…)

To slay a dragon one must acquire the appropriate weaponry, and after such weaponry is acquired, one must strike swiftly and convincingly. Prediction: “The dragon will be slayed within a decades’ time.”
